Location. Located on 300 acres spanning the foothills of the Waianae Mountains, the Makaha Resort Golf Club is one half mile from the 15th century Kaneaki Heiau temple and two miles from surf tides of the Makaha Beach. The resort boasts its own 18 hole championship Makaha Golf Course, adjacent to the hotel and surrounded by the Makaha Valley.
Hotel Features. Overlooking the resort's golf course and Pacific Ocean from a private lanai, the Pumana Lounge offers light fare and cocktails amidst live music from Hawaiian entertainers. Regional Hawaiian cuisine is served at the Kaiona Restaurant, which features weekend dinner buffets with seafood and prime rib. The Makaha Golf Course features a 19th Hole Snack Bar adjacent to the golf pro shop. This resort hotel is enclosed by a verandah that stretches into a sundeck, housing an outdoor pool and two tennis courts overlooking the Waianae Mountains. A fitness room with cardiovascular equipment and a game room with billiards tables are located in the downstairs lobby, next to the on site hair salon. Lessons on Hawaii's culture are offered during the day in the hotel's lobby. Business amenities include complimentary wireless Internet access in the lobby and meeting rooms that offer event catering for up to 200 guests.
Guestrooms. Shuttles are used to transport guests to guestrooms, scattered throughout two story cottages on the Makaha Resort Golf Club's 16 acres. Polynesian style rooms provide mountain views from furnished balconies with floor to ceiling glass doors. Refrigerators and coffeemakers are included in each room. Cable television and dial up Internet access are also available.
Expert Tip. The resort's renown Makaha Golf Course, designed by famed golf course architect William F. Bell, offers 7,000 yards of championship golf ranges, numerous professional shops and a driving range. I received private lessons from a seasoned professional, and group lessons are also offered.
